The boys also like to go see Grandpa Sias at his special house. Billy is in charge of water when we go there. He makes sure that everyone has a full cup from the water cooler in the sunroom. It makes him feel very special. On one visit, there were no new plastic water cups when we arrived. About an hour later, I noticed that everyone had water by their chairs. Billy proudly announced that he had found more cups. When I asked him where, he pointed to the trash can. Needless to say, everyone stopped drinking.
When I told the boys we were going to Michigan again this past weekend, TJ immediately found his backpack and starting stuffing it with Dinosaurs. During the ride there, Billy was very interested in how many minutes we had been in the car and how many more minutes there were until we got there. This is MUCH less annoying than "are we there yet" and it is actually a bit cute to watch him try to understand the concept of time.
We don't need a DVD player in the car for these trips. The boys enjoy just looking out the window and talking about what they see. We do, however, need a "pee cup" just in case Billy has to go at an inconvenient time. He thinks it is a fun game to pee in the van. I think it saves us time and a stop at a seedy gas station.
I am blessed with kids that can have fun anywhere under any circumstances. The highlight of this past trip -- the boys playing "truck football" in the empty UHaul we rented to move old furniture between four houses.
I don't have any pictures to post. I didn't bring my camera since this wasn't a "fun" trip. In hindsight, I wish I would've had it with me. The lesson -- take time to stop and see the world from a kids' perspective. It is a lot greener.
