Long Lost Blog

I miss this blog.  I miss having the time to write in this blog.  The baby we announced in my last post is already 8 months old!  I, too, can hardly believe it.  His name is Edward "Teddy" Sias and he is amazing.  He has an old soul.  I feel like I have known him my whole life.  He is also very expressive.  You can tell exactly what he is thinking just by looking at his facial expressions.  He spent the first 5 weeks of his life with his eyebrows furrowed, apparently wondering why he was chosen for this family.  Over the months, he started smiling.  A lot.  Now he laughs just at the sight of his brothers (and the splash pad, but that is a topic for another blog).  He completes our family.

Billy started Kindergarten this year.  Last year, he was in what I can very easily label as the World's Worst Preschool Class.  Apparently this is not socially acceptable to say outloud.  Whenever I mention it in a group setting, all of the voices go to a whisper and people become uncomfortable.  I appear to be the only person willing to vocalize the obvious: Any teacher who directs kids to play flashlights in the bathroom as a part of a lesson is not all with it.  This, coupled with routinely being given wet paint/glue at pick up, and about a thousand other things confirms my conclusion.  But, that is in the past.  Billy is now in Kindergarten and loving it.  His teacher seems smart, and caring.  I am very excited for him.

This year, Billy was also diagnosed with Lazy Eye (obviously not the official name of the ailment, but the one everyone recognizes).  I felt like the world's worst mother that I didn't pick up on it before his Kindergarten eye screening.  But, I've given myself a break.  Life happens.  The important thing is that we took him to a good eye doctor for the screening and she diagnosed it.  He now wears glasses.  They are cute on him.  I know everyone says that.  I actually believe it.  It completes his persona.  He perceives himself an intellectual: Prefers math, and enjoys chess.  Glasses fit him.  He also wears an eye patch at home.  He doesn't enjoy his patch like he does his glasses.  He wears it without a fight when I tell him to, but never reminds me when I forget.

There is a lot going on with the other kids but this is enough for now.  I am going to try to be better at this blog, if only for my own sake.  After spending some time reading it, I miss documenting life.  It goes by so quickly, I don't want to forget the little things.  We are truly blessed.
